BTS member SUGA has officially wrapped up his alternative military service as of June 18, bringing the global K-pop sensation one step closer to a full-group comeback. The news has sent waves of excitement through the BTS ARMY, as SUGA is now the final member to complete his mandatory duties following Jin, J-Hope, RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook.
🪖 Did SUGA Get an Early Discharge?
According to a report by Korean media outlet News1, SUGA concluded his final day of duty at his social service post on June 18, slightly ahead of his official discharge date on June 21. However, this does not constitute an early discharge in the formal sense.
Instead, the artist will begin using his accumulated vacation leave starting June 19. Since he is not required to return to his post during this leave, his active service effectively ended on June 18—without any special exemption or treatment. This is a standard practice for enlistees who earn time off during their term.
📅 SUGA’s Military Service Timeline
- Enlistment Date: September 22, 2023
- Service Type: Alternative (due to medical reasons)
- Total Duration: 21 months
- Discharge Date: June 21, 2025
Though serving in a non-combat role, SUGA completed basic training like his bandmates. Alternative service members are typically required to serve 21 months, in contrast to the 18 months required of active-duty soldiers.
🎤 What’s Next for BTS?
With SUGA’s service officially concluded, all seven members of BTS have now fulfilled their military obligations, setting the stage for a long-awaited full-group reunion. Recently, the members were seen attending J-Hope’s “HOPE ON THE STAGE” concert in Goyang, where SUGA made a masked appearance, warmly waving to fans.
While early reports suggested the group might release new music in March 2026, BIGHIT MUSIC has clarified that no official schedule has been confirmed. Fans are eagerly watching for announcements, including a possible world tour following the reunion.
